Right now the guidelines specify XHTML. The w3c validator now at least experimentally supports HTML5. I know the spec isn't finalized, but isn't it close enough to start accepting HTML5 designs?

Go ahead and submit your HTML5 designs as we will continue to expand our approval process for GFWD's.
Welcome to the site by the way

Thanks for the welcome. I'm excited to be giving back after only taking from this site and its predecessors in the past. I have a design ready to submit. What's the right form to fill out?
The zip file is http://brlewis.com/2010/plaindoings.zip

Once you're logged in, click the admin link (http://www.getfreewebdesigns.c…../wp-admin/) and choose "Submit a Design" from the left column.

Oh, I didn't see that at first because I had to pull down the GFWD menu.
I had to pick a validation from among the three XHTML choices. So my site suggestion is to add HTML5 to that list.
