I am working on building a website for a record label that I am starting as an imprint to a label I already have.  I am going to be selling digital downloads and am looking for a package or script similar to Foxy Cart but want to be able to host the files on my own server-Foxycart has a minimum storage for digital content and is expensive to upgrade plus I am not sure the upgrade amount will be enough in the long term. I need to keep costs to a minimum and would ideally like something I can integrate into the site rather than go to a stand alone shopping package.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Take a look at Open Cart.  It's a pretty nice feature rich shopping cart that uses PHP and a MySQL database.

Thanks for that.  i will have a look at it.

The other store software I am playing around with at the moment is Ecwid (http://www.ecwid.com) and this looks pretty good because I can integrate it into my website, Myspace and Facebook pages which opens up new opportunities for sales.

The Ecwid cart looks nice, however it's hosted on their server, not your own, so if they go down, your cart goes down… and also for full access to all script features, you need the paid account version, so if you are looking for a 100% free solution that has what you want without limitations, so far OpenCart looks like the one to go with.
