@Wolfram: Glad you agree with this and since you're pretty familiar with jQuery in your designs, you'd be a good person to help flush out what we use as a base plugin/library.

Lets all keep flushing this out a bit over the Christmas holiday (next couple of weeks) and come first of the new year (2010) we should have a pretty good idea of what to use (and not use) and then setup a page here on Get Free Web Designs (GFWD) for easy access to these libraries and plugins for our designers (and users).

It's so nice having community involement on things like this again. 2010 should be off to a great start for the open source design community.

I agree with Wolfi about using jQuery as a library.  Personally, I really enjoy seeing some of these scripts in designs.Wink

Instead of making up a brand new library of user interface controls why not just set the standard on using something like the jQuery Web UI controls. They're premade, use the latest version of jQuery and are themeable which would make it easy to integrate with a template.

I myself wouldn't want to make a library and then have to maintain it when there is already something out there made. First principal of design, "Don't Repeat Yourself".

I think that people should be allowed to use jQuery UI ( http://jqueryui.com/ ), and a few other big ones like the Forms plugin, the easing library and and maybe fancybox or facebox.

Hi all,

during the holidays I made a site with the most popular JavaScript and jQuery plugins in use:

Have a look and let me know, what you think.

Very cool Wolfram, I will add it to my resource folder and definitely use some of them.

I've added Wolfram's jQuery stuff to our design rules and guidelines page.  Let me know what you think.

Looks fantastic!  Thanks Sean for posting it, and thanks Wolfi for creating it.
