I was looking through You Tube.  I uploaded a video, and it gives you the option of making the video private.  My question, if I choose this option, is the video really going to be private…..meaning, can I only invite others to see it?

Yes, it will be private. I think you can only invite 25 people to view the video.

Yes, I saw that.  Now, if I'd like to post the video on a private web page for only my invited visitors to see, can I do this without it being public?  Thanks Tom.

Len,

why don't you protect this private web page with a password? E.g. with Word Press you can protect every page. Use your own Video Player instead of putting the video on YouTube, if you don't want it being public.

Convert your video by yourself to an FLV file and use e.g. http://www.longtailvideo.com/p…..lv-player/.

My thought is the same but I don’t know FLV. Last year we worked on a project of hiding a URL. Maybe we can do the same with this project.

The page is password protected, so I am not worried about this.   My concern is that someone may randomly find it on you tube, find it accidently while searching, or have it come up recommended when they look at some of my other video submissions.

I don't understand, why somebody should find your video, if it's not public and you never ever submitted it to YouTube… I don't really understand your concerns. Or do I misunderstand something?

@Tom

YouTube uses the FLV-format (FLASH) for to show their videos. There are many free convertors available on the internet to convert videos in this format.

Hey Wolfi, sorry this is getting confusing.  No worries.  I am going to forget my idea I had and think of another way to protect the videos.  Thanks anyway.
