Get Free Web Designs

Just a quick little blog post to let you know that we just added a new feature to design author profile pages.

Basically if you have 20 or more approved design submissions, your profile page will automatically have pagination.

That’s right, no more mile long profile pages which will help to make your profile page a little more user friendly and that way people can view 20 of your designs at a time without viewing a super long page.

If you have less then 20 design templates, the pagination doesn’t show up. Yes I know, it’s so magical, LOL. Enjoy.

I just wanted to post really quick and welcome everyone to the year 2009. It’s going to be an exciting year for Get Free Web Designs.

In the coming week if all goes well, we should be coming out of our private beta and going public, so keep checking the blog for updates.

Thanks again to all the open source web designers who have been helping out with providing free web templates and testing features of the site. Your support is very appreciated.

As of this post, we currently have 106 open source web design templates available for free download. This is amazing since we are still in our private beta.

I’d like to say a big “thank you” to all the designers who have contributed some wonderful design templates to the site. Your work and support is great. Thank you again.

Heads up web designers, when submitting your Open Source Web Designs to GFWD, don’t forget to add some keywords and/or tags to the “More Keywords” area on the submit design page.

Something to note, be sure and separate your tags with a comma. Here’s an example: professional, business, blog

By adding tags (keywords) to your designs, this will help people find your web designs in other ways via the advanced search page and also help your design template’s Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

As the “Get Free Web Designs” website moves forward in our beta testing, we are continuing to refine source code and of course add new features to the site.

With that in mind, most open source web designers and technology friendly people enjoy web statistics, so earlier today we launched the Top 10 web design statistics page which shows the following information:

• Top Web Template Contributors
• Most Downloaded Designs
• Most Downloads Per Day

Of course the design stats are a little low at the moment but that’s to be expected since the site is still new and working on getting content.

We are now about 4 or 5 days into our private beta testing of the site and things are going pretty good. We’ve had a few minor bumps along the way but things are coming together pretty nicely.

A big “thank you” is in order to the Open Source Web Designers that are helping test everything and also for uploading some free web design templates to get the site going. We appreciate all your help and support.

We have lofty goals for the future but there’s nothing that we want to talk about quite yet.
